Week Ten – Plate Ten – “Merriment” – Hand Painted Decorative Plate by Ma’at Silk.

Here’s number ten and very bright it is to. A little too bright for me to be honest but it’s still pretty. The design is based on strawberries and their leaves, but for some reason the colours make it look like a Christmas tree.  I was a little at a loss with what to call this one.  All I could think of was the word “Neon” – but I didn’t think it suited the plate completely.   So in the end I came up with Merriment and that’s where it stayed.

It took me about two and a half hours to paint and had two separate drying stages, plus a baking session in the oven – which makes it microwave safe, however it’s not officially food safe but as it’s only going to be used as a decorative plate that does not matter.

The photos were taken quickly in my studio and so are not the highest quality, but give a good idea of what they look like.

That’s 10 down and 2 more plates to go!

Have a creative day!

Thank you for your kind comment and what a good idea! I could easily get plates that have holes in the back to paint. I wonder if there would be a market for them? They would be pretty heavy to ship but it probably worth trying:) I think I’ll have a look at it.

Yeah, I have seen high class lifestyle malls selling these kind of decoration and kitchen items in India. I’m sure there exists a market for them as they are so well made and beautiful. These are precious and heavenly. I encourage you to think about it 🙂

I'd love to hear your comments!
