Week Nine – Plate Nine – “Acorns” – Hand Painted Decorative Plate by Ma’at Silk.

Number nine. Mushrooms and acorns. This plate has an “autumn” theme. We went for a walk last week and walked across a carpet of fallen acorns. Crunch they went underfoot and bending down, I filled my pockets and brought some home, wondering what to do with them. I might turn them into potpourri or something, but they also provided a great idea for this week’s plate. I deiced to go with a mushroom brown and purple for the colours. It’s not a bright plate but I like it’s subtle feel.

It took me about two and a half hours to paint and had two separate drying stages, plus a baking session in the oven – which makes it microwave safe, however it’s not officially food safe but as it’s only going to be used as a decorative plate that does not matter.

The photos were taken quickly in my studio and so are not the highest quality, but give a good idea of what they look like.

That’s 9 down and 3 more plates to go!

Have a creative day!
