Week Eight – Plate Eight – “Papyrus” – Hand Painted Decorative Plate by Ma’at Silk.

Number eight, please step this way.  Another nature inspired plate, this time it’s the papyrus plant I looked at. I have already designed a scarf set based on papyrus and Egyptian motifs, but I felt once more drawn, plus we have these growing in the garden. As you can see I spend ,lots of time in the garden. I love the blue in this plate, cool, deep and all blue. Winding rivers down from snow caped mountains, clear blue Caribbean sea shores, the blue tiled swimming pool on a hot summer’s day. Yes blue.

It took me about two and a half hours to paint and had two separate drying stages, plus a baking session in the oven – which makes it microwave safe, however it’s not officially food safe but as it’s only going to be used as a decorative plate that does not matter.

The photos were taken quickly in my studio and so are not the highest quality, but give a good idea of what they look like.

That’s 8 down and 4 more plates to go!

Have a creative day!
