Week Four – Plate Four – “Oklahoma” – Hand Painted Decorative Plate by Ma’at Silk.

Presenting number four! I call this plate Oklahoma, for no other reason than I was listening to the soundtrack while painting. It suits ‘Oh what a beautiful morning’ very well I think, as it has sunrise colours. I have a great soft spot for yellow and pink and so this happened. Again this is a floral design, with abstract leaves and a couple of oval shapes. My favorite part of this commission is that I have the freedom to paint whatever I fancy. I do however need to have a balance of all colours, so next week I’ll be getting round to blues and greens.

It took me about two and a half hours to paint and had two separate drying stages, plus a baking session in the oven – which makes it microwave safe, however it’s not officially food safe but as it’s only going to be used as a decorative plate that does not matter.

The photos were taken quickly in my studio and so are not the highest quality, but give a good idea of what they look like.

That’s 4 down and 8 more plates to go!

Have a creative day!
